Choose your prayer leaders for this week, get the form time prayer sheet ready and then select the tab with your house name on it.
NOTICE: During the season of Lent, we are called to reflect, repent, and renew our faith through the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession). As part of this, on Monday 24th March, Fr. Liam will be back in school and is available to hear Confessions and offer spiritual guidance, all day. If you would like to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Friday, please see Luke or Clare in the chaplaincy office, or sign up on the board outside the office.

DAY 1 – WHAT’S IN THE WORD?
We begin this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
This week we are focusing on the word FASTING. Fasting is usually thought of as giving up food, but in Christianity, it is a spiritual practice of self-discipline and renewal. During Lent, fasting helps us focus less on ourselves and more on God and others. It’s about making space for God and becoming better people. This week, let’s reflect on how we can fast with purpose and use it as a way to grow in faith, self-control, and kindness.

This week, we are in LENT, which means our liturgical colour is what? (Clue: This is the colour of our computer background) Tick the correct colour on your sheet.
The Word of the Week this week is FASTING. Make sure this is written on the sheet and your form is written in the form box.

Answer the following questions in pairs or as a form:
What are you fasting from this Lent?
How is fasting more than just giving up food? What else could we fast from?
How can fasting help us grow closer to God?
As form time prayer comes to an end, we give for thanks, in prayer, for all who lead us along the right path and never ‘into temptation’, as we pray together…
Our Father who art in heaven,
Amen
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day
our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
We end this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
DAY 2 – GOD’S MESSAGE FOR US
We begin this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
This week we are going to explore Scripture from the prophet Isaiah. The Prophet Isaiah is one of the most important figures in the Old Testament. Isaiah’s prophecies are very important in Christianity because he foretold the coming of Jesus. Isaiah was more than just a prophet, he was a voice of truth, justice, and hope. His message still speaks to us today, calling us to trust in God’s plan and live with faith and compassion.
“Share your food with the hungry and open your homes to the homeless poor. Give clothes to those who have nothing to wear, and do not refuse to help your own relatives.’
ISAIAH 58:7
Answer the following questions in pairs or as a form:
How can fasting help us become more aware of those who are in need?
What does this verse tell us about the type of fasting that pleases God?

Make sure you put the scripture reference (Isaiah 58:7) in the scripture box on your sheet.
Write your form’s thoughts about the above in the message box.

As form time prayer comes to an end, we pray for a deeper understanding of the teachings of the Bible. With all these things in our mind, we pray together, with Our Lady of Lourdes…
Hail, Mary, full of grace,
Amen
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
We end this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
DAY 3 – OUR RESPONSE TO GOD’S MESSAGE
We begin this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Let’s revisit the scripture from yesterday that we are taking with us throughout the week.
“Share your food with the hungry and open your homes to the homeless poor. Give clothes to those who have nothing to wear, and do not refuse to help your own relatives.’
ISAIAH 58:7
Fasting is very common thing to do in a lot of religions not just Christianity. Muslims worldwide are observing Ramadan, where they will fast daily from dawn to sunset. The Bahá’í community observes the Nineteen Day Fast from March 1 to March 19. During this period, Bahá’ís abstain from food and drink from sunrise to sunset. In these religions, fasting is also the opportunity to increase prayer life and spiritual development.
Today, we are going to be doing a challenge called ‘Give it up for day’. During the period of Lent, every Wednesday your form is going to give up one thing that everyone is going to fast from. It might be social media, video games or sweets. It can’t be something like ‘homework’. Decide as a form what that one thing will be, it could be something different every Wednesday.
Once you have decided, start fasting from it and tomorrow you might want to start form time by talking about how everyone found fasting from it.

In the ‘response’ section on your sheet, write the thing(s) that your form is giving up.
Thinking about our prayer partners for Lent, let us now all pray….
Lord, As I enter this time of fasting, I seek Your presence and guidance. Strengthen my body, mind, and spirit, that I may draw closer to You.
Amen
We end this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
DAY 4 – THE MISSION FOR THE WEEK
We begin this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Thinking about all that we have discussed about the word of the week and our scripture this week, it is time to set our MISSION. The mission should be our way of trying to work as individuals or as a community (whichever you choose), so that we can share the message from this week with the wider community.
“Share your food with the hungry and open your homes to the homeless poor. Give clothes to those who have nothing to wear, and do not refuse to help your own relatives.’
ISAIAH 58:7

Discuss in your form what mission you want to set for yourselves on the theme of FASTING and then write it on the form time prayer sheet.
Example
Our mission for the theme of FASTING is to use the time we save from Fasting from things to pray more or give more to others.
As form time prayer comes to an end, we pray for help to complete our mission. With all this in mind, we pray together…
Glory be to the Father
Amen
and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning
is now, and ever shall be
world without end.
We end this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
DAY 5 – THE CELEBRATION
Using everything we have added to our sheet this week, we are now going to take part in our Celebration of the Word, altogether, to end this week. Before we begin, we are going to take some time to settle down in a moment of silence.
We begin this celebration of the word with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
This week our word of the week is…
We are also in the 2nd week of Lent so our liturgical colour is…

and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.

We end this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Prayer leaders, please make sure your form time prayer sheet is handed in at the chaplaincy office, after Form Time Prayer on Friday. Please post it under the office door if we are in Mass.

Things to reflect on from 6KGL, who have planned this week’s Y12 & Y13 Form Time Prayer resources:
- We invite you now to spend a few moments in quiet prayer and reflection. There’s a music link below, if this helps with this short time of reflection.
- Reflect on the distractions in your life that can be challenging to resist, both inside and outside school.
- Take time to thank God for giving you the grace and ability to resist temptations.

As you ‘respond’ through silent reflection, consider (internally) the ways that you will respond to the call to ‘fast’ from temptations and distractions in the coming days, in your time outside school. Think: How can I give of myself and focus on what is truly important during this season of Lent, rather than being tempted or led astray by the distractions that life sends my way? How will I resist temptation and focus on what matters most in life?
Thinking about your prayer partner from last week and all in our world who need our prayers, let us now all pray the Jubilee Prayer…
God our Father in heaven,
Amen
may the faith you have given us
in your son, Jesus Christ, our Saviour,
and the flame of charity enkindled
in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
awaken in us this Jubilee Year a missionary heart
for the coming of your Kingdom.
May the gift of your grace
transform us, Pilgrims of Hope,
into your missionary disciples,
blessed with the gifts and talents you give us.
Strengthen us to share our Saviour’s message
of love, joy, and peace
with all the people we meet this year,
so that we may help build up your Kingdom on earth.
To you our God,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
be glory and praise for ever and ever.
6KGL have set the Servio mission, which is our way of trying to work as individuals or as a community to share the message from this week with the wider community.
“Share your food with the hungry and open your homes to the homeless poor. Give clothes to those who have nothing to wear, and do not refuse to help your own relatives.’
ISAIAH 58:7
Answer the following questions in pairs or as a form:

6KGL would like us to continue with the Servio mission to build up a SCHOOL PRAYER BOOK. This week, we can add in ‘Prayers for times when we are fasting.’ They would like you to write down or email any prayers you’re happy to share, so that they can start to create a resource to support the students and staff in the All Saints’ community to grow closer to God in prayer. They’d like you to think especially about prayers on the themes below, so that we can support and guide others at these times, reminding them that not only God is by their sides but that we are too.
- Prayers for times we worry
- Prayers for exam times
- Prayers for studying
- Prayers for times of loss
- Prayers for times of sadness
- Prayers for times of celebration
- Prayers for times of loneliness
- Prayers for friendship
- Prayers for one another
- Prayers for times when we are fasting
Prayers can be typed in the comments box OR: on a piece of paper, digital, emailed, creatively drawn/designed, in video format…and they can be sent into the Chaplaincy office or passed to 6KGL at any time over the course of Lent, for the students and Chaplains to bring together. We would love to begin compiling the All Saints’ Prayer Book over the Easter break, so thanks, in advance, for your prayers.
Example
As this is a creative task, prayers can be in any format, so an example might inhibit creativity. Please feel free to seek support from the Chaplains, if you need it.
As form time prayer comes to an end, we pray for help to complete our school mission. With all this in mind, we pray together…
Glory be to the Father
Amen
and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning
is now, and ever shall be
world without end.
We end this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
