This week, our scripture comes from St Paul’s letter to the Romans. The Christians in Rome were not all the same. Some were Jewish Christians, who had grown up following Jewish laws and traditions. Others were Gentiles (people who were not Jewish). This could create tension over who was really part of God’s people.
Paul’s message is that God welcomes people through faith in Jesus, rather than because of their background, nationality, or ability to follow every religious rule.
A reading from St Paul’s first letter to the Romans.
‘Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.’
