Prayer Leader Everyone
As our whole school Almsgiving mission, we will be supporting CAFOD and joining in the BIG LENT WALK over the next two weeks, as planned by the Chaplaincy Team. Look at the days below to see when your Big Lent Walk is:
Wednesday 26th March Y11
Thursday 27th March Y7
Monday 31st March Y10
Tuesday 1st April Y9
Thursday 3rd April Y8
DAY 1 – WHAT’S IN THE WORD?
We begin this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
This week we are focusing on the word ALMSGIVING.

This week, we are in LENT, which means our liturgical colour is what? (Clue: This is the colour of our computer background) Tick the correct colour on your sheet.
The Word of the Week this week is ALMSGIVING. Make sure this is written on the sheet and your form is written in the form box.

Answer the following questions in pairs or as a form:
How can giving help you become a better person?
Besides money, what other things can you give?
As form time prayer comes to an end, we give for thanks, in prayer, for all who lead us along the right path and never ‘into temptation’, as we pray together…
Our Father who art in heaven,
Amen
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day
our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
We end this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
DAY 2 – GOD’S MESSAGE FOR US
We begin this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
This week we are going to explore Scripture from the Gospel of Matthew.
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’’
Matthew 25:35-40
Answer the following questions in pairs or as a form:
What does Jesus mean when He says, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these, you did for me”?
Who are the “least of these” in our school community? How can you serve them?

Make sure you put the scripture reference (Matthew 25:35-40) in the scripture box on your sheet.
Write your form’s thoughts about the above in the message box.

As form time prayer comes to an end, we pray for a deeper understanding of the teachings of the Bible. With all these things in our mind, we pray together, with Our Lady of Lourdes…
Hail, Mary, full of grace,
Amen
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
We end this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
DAY 3 – OUR RESPONSE TO GOD’S MESSAGE
We begin this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Let’s revisit the scripture from yesterday that we are taking with us throughout the week.
This week is the start of our Big Lent Walks. On Wednesday, Yr 11 will be taking part in our first Big Lent walk and hopefully each form should have received a collection pot and step counting calendar for the CAFOD challenge.
As well as our money, we can also give ourselves and our time to others. In forms, we are going to do an ‘Act of Kindness Swap’. You need some strips of paper and pens for everyone. Everyone should write an ‘Act of Kindness’ on a strip of paper they have been given. These ‘Acts of Kindness’ should be things that everyone can do like ‘give a genuine compliment to someone today’ or ‘sit with someone new at lunch or in class’.
Once everyone has written an ‘Act of Kindness’, collect them in and hand them out in form again so everyone has an ‘Act of Kindness’ written by someone else. It is now everyone’s job to complete the ‘Act of Kindness’ to someone they encounter in the next few days, so everyone can give their time or their self to someone else who may be in need.

In the ‘response’ section on your sheet, write some of the Acts of Kindness that were given out.
Thinking about our prayer partners for Lent, let us now all pray….
Loving and Generous God,
Amen
Open our hearts to see those who are struggling,
And give us the courage to share with them in love.
We end this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
DAY 4 – THE MISSION FOR THE WEEK
We begin this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Thinking about all that we have discussed about the word of the week and our scripture this week, it is time to set our MISSION. The mission should be our way of trying to work as individuals or as a community (whichever you choose), so that we can share the message from this week with the wider community.

Discuss in your form what mission you want to set for yourselves on the theme of ALMSGIVING and then write it on the form time prayer sheet.
Example
Our mission for the theme of ALMSGIVING is to give an hour of our time to help our local community in some way.
As form time prayer comes to an end, we pray for help to complete our mission. With all this in mind, we pray together…
Glory be to the Father
Amen
and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning
is now, and ever shall be
world without end.
We end this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
DAY 5 – THE CELEBRATION
Using everything we have added to our sheet this week, we are now going to take part in our Celebration of the Word, altogether, to end this week. Before we begin, we are going to take some time to settle down in a moment of silence.
We begin this celebration of the word with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
This week our word of the week is…
We are also in the 3rd week of Lent so our liturgical colour is…
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.

6LSS, who have planned this week’s Y12 & Y13 Form Time Prayer resources, invite you to reflect on the importance of the Lenten practice of almsgiving:

As you ‘respond’, think of the ways that we see almsgiving in today’s society and type them into the comments box below. E.g. CAFOD’s Big Lent Walk, Macmillan Cancer Support, Red Nose Day, etc.
Thinking about your prayer partner from last week and all in our world who need our prayers, let us now all pray the Jubilee Prayer…
God our Father in heaven,
Amen
may the faith you have given us
in your son, Jesus Christ, our Saviour,
and the flame of charity enkindled
in our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
awaken in us this Jubilee Year a missionary heart
for the coming of your Kingdom.
May the gift of your grace
transform us, Pilgrims of Hope,
into your missionary disciples,
blessed with the gifts and talents you give us.
Strengthen us to share our Saviour’s message
of love, joy, and peace
with all the people we meet this year,
so that we may help build up your Kingdom on earth.
To you our God,
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
be glory and praise for ever and ever.
6LSS have set the Servio mission, which is our way of trying to work as individuals or as a community to share the message from this week with the wider community.

6LSS would like you to build a box of items to donate to the Foodbank – one box per form – to gather items to be donated and dropped off in the Chaplaincy Office by Thursday 3rd April please.
By doing this, our almsgiving mission will help those in our local community who are most in need. Thank you for your support!
Please also feel free to join in with the Big Lent Walk with the other year groups, as per the timetable.
Example
Please bring in dry goods, foods and toiletries that can be easily packed and donated. Thanks!
As form time prayer comes to an end, we pray for help to complete our school mission. With all this in mind, we pray together…
Glory be to the Father
Amen
and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning
is now, and ever shall be
world without end.
We end this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
