Today, we are going to practising the Mass Settings for our Golden Jubilee Mass on Friday. Mass settings are specific prayers or responses that happen at every Mass. You will hopefully recognise most of these from mass but you may not have sung them or sung them in a different way.
The videos below show Tom and Beth from our school trust singing the mass settings that we will use in the mass on Friday. These are ‘cantored’ which means that when Tom sings it we will repeat after him, joining in with Beth. Practise the mass settings with the videos below.
The Alleluia is a word of joyful praise meaning “Praise the Lord,” sung before the Gospel to welcome Jesus’ words.
The Holy, Holy is a song that joins with angels in worship, praising God’s holiness.
The Memorial Acclamation is a response that remembers Jesus’ death and celebrates His resurrection.
The Great Amen is a strong, unified “Yes” from the people, affirming the Eucharistic Prayer.
The Lamb of God is a prayer asking Jesus, the Lamb of God, to give us peace as we prepare for Communion.
Thinking about the mercy Jesus shows us, let us all join together as we pray….
