DAY 1 – WHAT’S IN THE WORD?
Before we begin this form time prayer, let’s take a moment to light our candle and spend some time in silence thinking about all the things that are on our hearts and minds today…
We begin this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
This week, our word of the week is DIALOGUE. As we begin our time in prayer, focusing on this theme, think about the ways that you dialogue or communicate with others.
This week, we are in ORDINARY TIME, which means our liturgical colour is what? (Clue: This is the colour of our computer background) Tick the correct colour on your sheet.
The Word of the Week this week is DIALOGUE. Make sure this is written on the sheet and your form is written in the form box.
As form time prayer comes to an end, we ask the Holy Spirit to inspire us to bring Christ to others, through our thoughts, actions and words, as we pray together…
Come, Holy Spirit,
Amen
fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them
the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit
and they shall be created.
And you will renew
the face of the earth.
We end this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
DAY 2 – GOD’S MESSAGE FOR US
Before we begin this form time prayer, let’s take a moment to light our candle and spend some time in silence thinking about all the things that are on our hearts and minds today…
We begin this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
This week, our scripture comes from the letter of St Paul to the Ephesians.
‘Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.’
EPHESIANS 4:29
Make sure you put the scripture reference (EPHESIANS 4:29) in the scripture box on your sheet.
Write your form’s thoughts about the above in the message box.
As form time prayer comes to an end, we pray for a deeper understanding of the teachings of the Bible. With all these things in our mind, we pray together, with Our Lady of Lourdes…
Hail, Mary, full of grace,
Amen
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou amongst women
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
We end this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
DAY 3 – OUR RESPONSE TO GOD’S MESSAGE
Before we begin this form time prayer, let’s take a moment to light our candle and spend some time in silence thinking about all the things that are on our hearts and minds today…
We begin this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Let’s remind ourselves of our scripture:
‘Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.’
EPHESIANS 4:29
Discuss in pairs or small groups:
Who do I speak to/dialogue with appropriately?
Is dialogue purely based on words?
Is there anyone with whom I communicate inappropriately at times? If so, how can I improve the dialogue with this person/these people?
Personal Action:
Write down one practical action you can commit to this week that demonstrates a positive approach to the type of dialogue St Paul’s letter teaches us to engage in.
Examples: showing respect for the speaker, using gestures and eye contact positively and making an effort to engage in dialogue rather that retreat to phones or devices.
In the Response section, write examples of the things you have been thinking about.
As form time prayer comes to an end, let’s pray the ‘Prayer for our School’, to thank, bless and celebrate all those in our school community who help us to encounter Christ, as we pray together…
Prayer for our School
Amen
Lord Jesus, we pray for all who work at our school and minister to us, for our teachers and our students, for those who prepare our food, for those who clean up after us, for those who work in the offices, for those who give up their spare time for us, for those who work on the grounds, for those who work at long meetings in the evenings. We ask you to bless them.
Help us to make our school a caring school. Help us to remember that everyone has an important part to play. Help us all to respect each other and work together, so that our school will be a happy place for us all.
We end this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
DAY 4 – OUR MISSION
Before we begin this form time prayer, let’s take a moment to light our candle and spend some time in silence thinking about all the things that are on our hearts and minds today…
We begin this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Thinking about all that we have discussed about the word of the week and our scripture this week, it is time to set our MISSION. The mission should be our way of trying to work as individuals or as a community (whichever you choose), so that we can share the message from this week with the wider community.
‘Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.’
EPHESIANS 4:29
Discuss in your form what mission you want to set for yourselves on the theme of DIALOGUE and then write it on the form time prayer sheet.
Example
Our mission for the theme of OUTREACH is to include a person who may be left out.
As form time prayer comes to an end, we pray for help to complete our mission. With all this in mind, we pray together…
Glory be to the Father
Amen
and to the Son
and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning
is now, and ever shall be
world without end.
We end this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
DAY 5 – THE CELEBRATION
Before we begin this form time prayer, let’s take a moment to light our candle and spend some time in silence thinking about all the things that are on our hearts and minds today…
Using everything we have added to our sheet this week, we are now going to take part in our Celebration of the Word, altogether, to end this week.
We begin this Celebration of the Word with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
This week our word of the week is…DIALOGUE.
We are also in the 25th week of Ordinary Time so our liturgical colour is…
A reading from the letter of St Paul to the Ephesians.
‘Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.’
EPHESIANS 4:29
The Word of the Lord
THANKS BE TO GOD
The message we get from this Bible passage is…(Share your message, as written on your sheet or in your own words.)
Thinking about the people we will encounter and dialogue with this term, let’s pray the ‘Act of Love’ to remind us that we are called to love our neighbour, as Jesus taught us…
Act of Love
Amen
My God, because you are so good, I love you with all my heart,
and for your sake,
I love your neighbour as myself.
Our mission for the theme of DIALOGUE is to…
We end this form time prayer with the sign of the cross. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
Prayer leaders, please make sure your form time prayer sheet is handed in at the chaplaincy office, after Form Time Prayer on Friday. Please post it under the office door if we are in Mass.
