We also learn about the word COMMISSION in the Gospel’s, when Jesus sends His disiciples to ‘baptise the nations’ and spread the word of God.

On Saturday, students from sixth form will be undertaking the Nottingham Diocese Lourdes Pilgrimage. This is a major Catholic pilgrimage that millions of people go to each year and it is a great place of prayer for people.
Part of the pigrimage involves celebrating Holy Mass in the grotto, the same place where Our Lady (Mary) appeared to St Bernadette. Before the Mass the pilgrims have a chance to walk around the grotto, touch the walls where the water comes down from and to offer any intercessions that they have brought.
Today is your opportunity to write any intercessions (things you want to pray for). As you write your prayer intentions, you are placing before God the people, hopes, fears, and thanksgivings that are on your hearts. These intentions will be taken to the Grotto at Lourdes by Clare, Luke and the sixth formers, where they will join the prayers of pilgrims from around the world. This simple act reminds us that no one prays alone and that God hears every sincere prayer.
Please spend some time thinking about what you want to offer in prayer and write it on a piece of paper. Once your form have finished these intercessions, please hand them into the chaplaincy office so we can take them on Saturday. These intercessions will not be read by anyone apart from the religious communities that pray these in Lourdes.
As form time prayer comes to an end, we pray for a deeper understanding of the teachings of the Bible. With all these things in our mind, we pray together, with Our Lady of Lourdes…

Fundraising is a great way to live out so many of the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, like the preferential option for the poor, rights and responsibilities and solidarity. Take time today and tomorrow to choose or to finalise the activity/activities you and your form are going to do to raise money for our charitable giving. The word of the week next week will be ‘gratitude’ so all of your efforts will be a great way to give thanks for the time and effort people put into fundraising and for all that we’ve been given by the Lord in our lives, which those for whom we fundraise may otherwise go without.
