The Word of the Week this week is EVANGELISE. Make sure this is written on the sheet.
EVANGELISE is a very similar word to last week’s word ‘Missionary Discipleship’. When we think of the word ‘Evangelise’ we think of spreading the Gospel and evangelising people so they too can become close with Jesus. In the video, Mrs Nattriss talks about how she has a responsibility to spread the Gospel to her children. Can you think of anyone that you have a responsibility to spread the Gospel too?

Our scripture this week comes from St Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians. The Corinthians are the people of Corinth. Paul had already wrote 1 letter to them trying to Evangelise them and in this letter, the apostle Paul leads the Corinthian congregation back to a right relationship with Christ.

Revisit the scripture from yesterday that we are taking with us throughout the week. Currently, during this Year of Prayer, we are focusing on ‘Prayers of Intercession’ which are ‘asking’ or ‘bidding’ prayers. In mass, we might hear these prayers after the priest has given a homily.

You may want to pray for something that is going on in the news or in our local community at the minute. When writing the prayers, you may want to use the scripture and the word of the week (EVANGELISE) to inspire you. Using the sentence starters below, create some prayers of intercession. You may want to split off in groups and use your mini whiteboards to come up with ideas.

DAY 4 – THE MISSION FOR THE WEEK

This week we are going to do something a little bit different. On the 28th of June, we will be celebrating a whole school mass with Canon (Father) John, our priest. As part of this celebration, we will be celebrating the 21st Anniversary of Canon John’s Ordination (when he became a priest). As a school, we have decided to give a special gift to Canon John for all his years of service to the priesthood and for his commitment and dedication to our school and parish communities.
In your mission section on your sheet, we would like you to write the name of a prayer that as a form, you are going to pray for Fr John. This could be a decade of the Rosary, a Hail Mary, an Our Father. This could be set out as “Happy Anniversary Fr John! We are [form name] and as a form, we are all going to pray a decade of the Rosary for you.” We will then join all these prayers together to make a big ‘Spiritual Bouquet’ from the whole school.

DAY 5 – THE CELEBRATION
Using everything we have added to our sheet this week, we are now going to take part in our Celebration of the Word altogether to end this week. Before you begin, take some time to settle down in a moment of silence.

This week, we will be preparing for our Mass of Thanksgiving for all we’ve achieved during this school year. During this Mass, on Friday 28th June, we’ll also be giving thanks for Canon (Fr) John, for his 21 years of ministry to the priesthood. Canon John is a fine example of someone who’s evangelised through his words, actions and ministry.
As mentioned in Friday’s Form Time Prayer, we will give thanks to him by compiling a Spiritual Bouquet. Please see the example, then create one of your own, as a form, so that Clare and Luke can build these into a bouquet.
Try to think of original acts of kindness and prayers that you can offer, as well as pledges to attend Mass for Canon John and for all those in the world who are unable to attend Mass, due to illness, war or any kind of unrest.

A recessional hymn should be sung as we begin to process out, in order to begin to live out the mission of the Mass, so practise singing with meaning and determination that we may each be filled with the Holy Spirit to shine brightly:
